Laboratory Status

  • Functional Materials Laboratory has conducting research and development of functional materials. Graduate students taking Masters-Ph.D program and undergraduate students are participating in the research. The main research areas are manufacturing and applications of functional thin film materials, and functional powder materials.
  • Especially, TiO2 and WO3 photocatalitic thin film materials have been developed for many years in the field of functional thin film fabrication and applications. In addition, development of silver-based low emissivity thin films for energy saving window glass has been tried through nanostructure control. Recently, we have been conducting multifunctional thin films research that combine energy saving and photocatalytic self-cleaning functions, and have published research papers in international journals such as Thin Solid Films, Applied Surface Science, and Materials Letters.
  • Major research achievements include YBCO superconductor thick film fabrication technology printed on copper foil, high-performance soft magnetic FeSiAl powder production technology, and super-hydrophilic TiO2 thin film application. Currently, many efforts have been made in research on the low-emission multilayer thin film for energy saving, high transmittance thin films coated sapphire substrate, and nanostructured silicon composite powder for lithium secondary battery anode material.
